I LOVE sushi, I could eat it every day- if I could afford it. Since I get sushi take out any chance I get, I always love cracking open my fortune cookie at the end of my meal. However, I’ve gotten some disappointing fortunes: “Your fortune is in another cookie” tops the list. Who writes that anyways?! On the other hand, my favorite fortune that I’ve kept and it sits above my work laptop: “We can’t help everyone. But everyone can help someone.” Amen to that Mr. Fortune Cookie Man!

What if everyone thought that way?  I myself can’t change the world, but how can I help one person and change their day? I’m just as guilty as anyone else- worrying about my own problems, grocery store list, bills, cleaning the house…the list goes on and on. Newsflash: I’m not the only one with a lot on my plate, so I just need to get over it and realize that many people are thankful for my so-called “problems.”

I have decided to challenge myself for the month of November to help someone, in some way, every day.

I think every year when that month rolls around every single day you start seeing these Facebook statuses “I’m thankful for…” by the last week in November everybody’s thinking “yeah, yeah- we know, you’re thankful for Starbucks and pumpkin scented things” (because those first few weeks, of course, everyone lists the big important things like family and health). But seriously- how are you SHOWING you’re thankful by listing it on a social media site? So, I’m going to change it up a bit: for the month of November I’m going to show that I’m thankful for my many blessings by helping someone else, every day (holy cow, every day…this is going to be fun).
